India's badminton stars PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen delivered outstanding performances to win the women's and men's singles titles, respectively, at the Hylo Open 2026.
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu defeated Denmark's Line Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the women's singles final to become the first Indian woman to win the prestigious tournament. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Lakshya Sen overcame defending champion and Indonesian shuttler Jonathan Christie 21-17, 21-10 to claim his second men's singles title at the event.
With this victory, Lakshya became the first Indian player to win the Hylo Open twice in any category. The triumph also marked his first Badminton World Federation (BWF) title of the 2026 season.
For Sindhu, the victory marked her second BWF World Tour title this season, following her Japan Open triumph in July. She reached the final for the second consecutive week after finishing runner-up at the French Open last week, where she lost to world No. 1 An Se-young.
The second-seeded Indian maintained an impressive run throughout the tournament, winning the title without dropping a single game. She began her campaign with a comfortable 21-10, 21-10 victory over Prakriti Bharath of the UAE.
Sindhu continued her dominant performance in the following round, defeating France's Rosie Octavia Pancasari 21-9, 21-6 in just 26 minutes to advance to the quarter-finals.
In the last eight, she registered a 21-12, 21-10 win against Germany's Amalie Schulz to secure her place in the semi-finals.
The Indian star then faced compatriot and 19-year-old Anmol Kharb in the semi-final. Sindhu overcame the young shuttler's challenge with a 21-13, 21-16 victory to book her place in the title clash.
Her convincing performance in the final against Denmark's Kjaersfeldt completed a memorable tournament campaign, giving India two major singles titles at the Hylo Open 2026.
