Moga: Two Canal Department Employees Caught Red-Handed Taking Rs 50,000 Bribe

Vigilance Bureau officials in Moga have caught two employees of the Canal Department red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused have been identified as Bir Singh and Jagdev Singh. According to officials, the action was taken on the complaint of Soni, a resident of Talwandi Bhai town. The complainant alleged that the two accused had demanded a total of Rs 6 lakh in bribes in exchange for securing a permanent Beladar job for his son, Mohit. Soni claimed that he had already paid Rs 5.5 lakh to the accused in instalments, but his son was still not issued an appointment letter. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly demanded an additional Rs 50,000 as the final payment before issuing the appointment letter. Unable to arrange the additional amount, Soni approached the Vigilance Bureau and reported the matter. Acting on his complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap as part of its planned operation. Bir Singh and Jagdev Singh were allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the remaining Rs 50,000 from the complainant. A case has been registered against both accused under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation into the alleged fake job racket is underway.
