The water level in Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake has been rising rapidly due to continuous rainfall in the city and surrounding areas. The lake’s water level has reached nearly 1,161.00 feet, prompting the administration to closely monitor the situation. At present, the water level remains around two feet below the danger mark. However, if the water level continues to rise, authorities may have to release water from the lake. If the water level rises further, the administration may also have to open the flood gates. In view of the situation, the concerned departments are keeping a continuous watch on the lake’s water level and assessing the conditions. The water level in Sukhna Lake has been steadily increasing following heavy rainfall in Chandigarh and adjoining areas over the past few days. Rainfall has also led to increased water inflow into the lake’s catchment area. The administration is monitoring the situation closely and will take further decisions based on the water level and prevailing conditions.
