Congress MLAs Protest Paper Leak Issue Outside Punjab Assembly, Demand Ministers’ Resignation

The Congress Legislature Party, led by Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, intensified its attack on the Punjab government over the paper leak issue by staging a protest outside the Punjab Legislative Assembly on Monday. Congress MLAs raised slogans against the state government, demanding accountability in connection with the alleged paper leak cases. During the demonstration, Congress legislators alleged that the state government had failed to take effective action over the incidents. They also demanded the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, holding them accountable for the paper leak cases reported in the state. The Congress leaders stated that Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains had participated in the students' protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the national paper leak issue. However, they alleged that the minister had remained silent on the paper leak cases that had occurred in Punjab. They maintained that both the Education Minister and the Health Minister should step down in light of the incidents in the state. Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also referred to directions reportedly issued by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stating that all MLAs had been instructed not to greet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Bajwa further claimed that when Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan was questioned on the matter, he did not provide a clear response. The protest took place as the Punjab Legislative Assembly's Monsoon Session continued, with the paper leak issue emerging as one of the key subjects of political confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition.
