Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia and a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, an Indian-flagged LPG carrier, Green Asha, has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and arrived at Navi Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). The vessel transported 15,400 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the country’s energy requirements. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority confirmed the development in an official statement issued on Thursday. Welcoming the vessel, JNPA stated, “Today, JNPA proudly received Green Asha, which has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached our port.” The authority highlighted that the safe arrival of the ship is a significant achievement, especially as tensions continue to persist in the strategically vital Hormuz region. According to the statement, the vessel, its cargo, and all crew members are safe. The authority further emphasized that this successful operation demonstrates the resilience and capability of maritime operations even amid complex geopolitical conditions. JNPA added that the arrival of Green Asha ensures a steady supply of essential LPG to the country, reinforcing India’s energy security during uncertain global circumstances.
