Packaged Peas Suspected After Fatal Illness Leaves One Dead and Four Hospitalised

A man has died and four members of a family have fallen ill after allegedly consuming a pea curry prepared from a sealed packet of peas in Duggalwala village of Tarn Taran district. According to family head Dilbagh Singh, the peas had been purchased in a sealed packet from a shop in Tarn Taran. He said the family prepared the pea curry on Tuesday night and ate the meal together. Soon after consuming the food, their worker, Jagtar Singh Jaggi, became seriously ill and later died. Dilbagh Singh, his wife, and their two daughters-in-law also developed health complications after eating the meal. All four were admitted to a private hospital in Tarn Taran for treatment. Dilbagh Singh stated that the packaged peas had been bought from a local shop and the curry was prepared at home before being shared by the family. According to the family, Jagtar Singh Jaggi complained of severe stomach pain shortly after eating, and his condition turned fatal. Around the same time, Jagtar Singh's wife and his two daughters-in-law also reported similar symptoms. The remaining affected family members are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Tarn Taran, where their condition is reported to be stable.
