Minor Girl Dies, Another Injured After Scooty Hit by Makeshift Vehicle in Fazilka

A tragic road accident in Fazilka district claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl after a scooty carrying minors was hit by a “jugadu rehda” (makeshift vehicle) near Islamwala village on Moga Road on May 5, 2026. According to official information, the incident took place when a scooty carrying a child and two minor girls was struck by the approaching vehicle. The injured were immediately taken to the Fazilka Government Hospital by the State Road Safety Force (SSF). The deceased has been identified as Kajal, a 13-year-old student of Class 8 who studied at a government school in the village. She was riding the scooty along with her younger brother and her friend when the accident occurred. Reports state that Kajal had gone to her friend Simar’s house from Islamwala village. Later, she took Simar along, and the group was heading towards the village market to have juice. While they were on their way, the jugadu rehda coming from the opposite direction collided with their scooty, leaving all three injured. A three-year-old child who was also on the scooty fell aside during the impact and survived the accident without serious harm. Kajal and her friend sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital. At the hospital, doctors declared Kajal dead. Her friend suffered fractures in her leg at two places and has been admitted to the government hospital in Fazilka for treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident further.
