A deadly shooting unfolded Wednesday afternoon inside a downtown Minneapolis apartment building, leaving three people dead, including the suspected gunman, and injuring three police officers. Authorities reported that a 911 call about gunfire was received shortly after 4:30 p.m. Officers entered the high-rise building within minutes and discovered victims of the shooting. Moments later, they heard additional gunshots from an upper floor and moved toward the source. Police noted that the upper level was filled with smoke or haze, making visibility difficult. One officer was shot in the leg, while two others sustained injuries during the confrontation. All three were transported to the hospital, where their conditions were described as stable. One officer underwent surgery. Police confirmed that one victim died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries after being taken to the hospital. Details regarding how the suspect was killed were not immediately released. The Hennepin County Medical Center stated that seven patients connected to the incident were brought in, though no further information about their conditions was provided. Witnesses reported seeing a man armed with a handgun and hearing multiple rounds of gunfire. Authorities urged residents to remain cautious and avoid the area. The FBI is assisting local police in the investigation. Officials are working to determine the motive behind the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.
