ED Issues Fresh Summons to Former Punjab Chief Secretary
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again summoned former Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. He has been directed to appear before the agency’s zonal office on September 7. Earlier, Verma was asked to appear on August 31 but did not attend, citing the need for additional time to gather necessary documents. Following his request, the ED has now issued a fresh date for questioning. The case pertains to alleged irregularities linked to Mohali-based projects of Suntec City and Altus Space Builders Private Limited. The ED is investigating possible violations of regulations and financial discrepancies. Verma currently serves as Additional Chief Secretary in the Finance Department. However, during the period under scrutiny, he was heading the Housing and Urban Development Department. It is noteworthy that IAS officer Kanwalpreet Brar was also summoned in connection with the same matter. Brar appeared before the ED on August 18 and was called again on August 27 for further questioning.
