The Congress party has received a final notice to vacate its two old offices located in the national capital, Delhi. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has directed the party to vacate the premises at 24, Akbar Road and 5, Raisina Road by March 28. According to available information, the bungalow at Akbar Road has served as the Congress party’s headquarters since 1978. For nearly 48 years, key party activities were conducted from this location, where several important strategies were formulated. Although the party established its new headquarters at Indira Bhavan on Kotla Marg last year, the Akbar Road office continues to be in use. Reacting to the development, senior Congress leader and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi described the move as “illegal and politically motivated.” He stated that the party is considering approaching the court to challenge the notice. Party sources emphasized that the Akbar Road office holds significant historical importance for the Congress and is associated with many key moments in its political journey. The party appears to be taking the matter seriously, with senior leaders actively working on a strategy to respond appropriately. Reports suggest that Congress may soon move the court against the government’s decision.
