15-Year-Old Tanvi Patri Wins Her First Senior International Badminton Title

India’s 15-year-old badminton player Tanvi Patri has won the Pontianak International Challenge title in Indonesia, securing the first senior international title of her career. World No. 132 Tanvi produced a dominant performance in the final, defeating South Korea’s World No. 82 Kim Min-Sun 21-5, 21-6. She completed the match in just 32 minutes to claim the championship. The victory marked Tanvi’s sixth win of the tournament. Except for her opening match, she won all her matches in straight games, maintaining an impressive run throughout the competition. Tanvi had also recorded a notable victory in the semifinal a day before the final. She defeated Canada’s top-seeded player and World No. 51 Rachel Chan 21-9, 21-19. With the back-to-back victories over Rachel Chan and Kim Min-Sun, Tanvi defeated two players ranked inside the world’s top 100 on consecutive days. Her performance in Pontianak has therefore resulted in a significant milestone in her senior international career.
