A fresh development has emerged in the case of a Punjabi woman, Sarabjit Kaur, who travelled to Pakistan with a Sikh religious group and later married there. Her husband from Punjab, Karnail Singh, has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking her deportation from Pakistan and return to India. In his petition, Karnail Singh alleged that Sarabjit Kaur had not divorced him before entering into another marriage in Pakistan. He further claimed that she was blackmailed using objectionable photos and videos, and that money was extorted from him and sent to Dubai under pressure. The husband has also accused Sarabjit of violating the terms of her pilgrimage visa, along with breaches of the Foreigners Act and Islamic laws. He alleged that her relationship with a Pakistani man, Noor Hussain, without a formal divorce, is illegal and should be treated as a criminal offence. He further described her conversion to Islam as forced, claiming that due legal procedures under Sharia law were not followed. Sarabjit Kaur, a resident of Amanipur village in Kapurthala district of Punjab, had travelled to Pakistan on November 4, 2025, via the Attari border from Amritsar. She was part of a group of 1,932 pilgrims visiting on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. However, when the group returned to India, only 1,922 pilgrims came back instead of 1,923, and it was later discovered that Sarabjit had not returned. Initially believed to be missing, the case took a dramatic turn when a nikahnama written in Urdu surfaced online. The document stated that Sarabjit had converted to Islam in Pakistan and married a Muslim man named Noor Hussain from Sheikhupura. Sarabjit, now reportedly known as Noor Hussain, has claimed that she had been in a relationship with the man for the past eight years and that they were connected online. She stated that she travelled to Pakistan of her own free will and is happy with her marriage.
