A devastating road accident occurred in Pakistan on Friday morning when a speeding passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine near the border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the bus to veer off the road and fall into the gorge. At least 40 people were killed in the accident, while eight others sustained serious injuries. Following the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched an emergency rescue operation. The victims and injured passengers were pulled out of the ravine and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said the bus was already carrying a full load of passengers. During the journey, passengers from another bus that had broken down were also accommodated in the same vehicle. According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the accident took place in the Dana Sar area. He stated that the bus was travelling at high speed on the highway when the crash occurred. Preliminary investigations indicate that overloading is believed to be the primary cause of the accident. Rescue teams continue to remain at the site and are carrying out relief operations. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over the tragedy and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. The Balochistan provincial government also conveyed its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed the concerned departments to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured passengers.
