The meeting was attended by nearly 50 Congress leaders, including three sitting MLAs. Among those present were MLAs Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Kala Dhillon from Barnala, and Rana Gurjit Singh from Kapurthala. Several senior leaders and former ministers also attended, including former Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni, former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Gurkirat Kotli, former MLAs Gurpreet Kangar, Nazar Singh Manshahia, Parminder Singh Pinky, Davinder Singh Ghubaya, Inderbir Singh Bularia, Lakhbir Lakha, Tarsem DC, Darshan Brar, Harminder Singh Gill, Madan Lal Jalalpur, former Youth Congress president Barinder Dhillon, Kamaljit Karwal, former MP Mohammad Sadiq, former MLAs Joginder Pal, Dinesh Bassi, Dalbir Goldy, and Balkaur Singh, father of the late singer Sidhu Moosewala. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that all the leaders had requested Charanjit Singh Channi to take up their concerns with the Congress high command. He stated that the leaders wanted the Congress to return to power in Punjab and clarified that they had no dispute with the party high command itself. However, they expressed dissatisfaction with the recent leadership decision and said they were not in favour of Amarinder Singh Raja Warring continuing as the Punjab Congress president. They urged the party leadership to reconsider its decision. The meeting comes after the Congress high command decided to retain Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as the president of the Punjab Congress. According to the leaders present at the meeting, the decision has caused resentment within a section of the state unit. The political developments assume significance as Punjab is scheduled to hold its Assembly elections in February 2027.
