Woman Alleges Pressure and False Case in Dispute Over School Building Purchase

A fresh controversy has emerged in Punjab after a woman from Jalalabad accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy of harassment in connection with a property deal involving a closed school building. In a video message, the woman, identified as Satuti, claimed that she had purchased land of a closed school located on the Fazilka-Ferozepur road, just opposite her residence. The property is situated across the road from the MLA’s newly constructed house on the outskirts of Jalalabad. According to her allegations, after the deal was finalised, property prices increased, following which she and her family were allegedly pressured to cancel the agreement. She claimed that the MLA was interested in purchasing the same property and sought to have the deal called off. The woman further alleged that her family was threatened with the registration of an FIR and was later implicated in a false case. As per available information, her brother, Gagan Chawla, who was recently promoted from Assistant Sub-Inspector to Sub-Inspector at an NRI police station in Mohali, is currently undergoing training. She also claimed that on April 18, around 18–20 police personnel, including some SHOs, visited her residence and allegedly threatened her husband in her absence. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, in a statement posted on X, accused the ruling party of misusing power. He alleged that this case was similar to a previous controversy linked to Laljit Singh Bhullar, where attempts were allegedly made to forcibly कब्जा land and file false cases against those who resisted. When contacted, MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy denied all allegations, stating that he neither harassed anyone nor attempted to purchase the property. He clarified that the dispute is between the current buyer and the previous owners and that he has no connection with the matter. It is also reported that the said property has been embroiled in disputes for over a decade.
