The ongoing war in Iran is beginning to affect the pockets of ordinary travellers as rising crude oil and jet fuel prices push global airlines to reconsider ticket pricing. Several major airlines worldwide have already increased fares due to the sharp rise in fuel costs. Airlines such as Qantas of Australia and SAS of Scandinavia announced on Tuesday that they may increase fares, citing the sudden surge in fuel prices caused by the conflict in West Asia. The rapid increase in jet fuel costs has significantly raised operational expenses for airlines across the globe. Before the war, jet fuel prices were approximately between $85 and $90 per barrel. However, the cost has now surged to between $150 and $200 per barrel. This sharp rise has made airline operations considerably more expensive than before. According to airline officials, jet fuel prices have increased significantly over the past two weeks. The company stated that if the rise in operational costs continues, part of the burden may have to be passed on to passengers. As a result, air travel could become more expensive in the coming months. Experts believe that if tensions in the Middle East persist, the cost of air travel could increase globally in the coming weeks. The ongoing geopolitical instability is expected to keep fuel prices under pressure, affecting the aviation industry worldwide. However, Qantas has not yet announced any official date or specific rate for a fare increase. The airline said it is currently reviewing the situation and will take a decision based on market conditions.
