Rising Temperatures Grip Punjab and Chandigarh, Health Advisory Issued

Heat conditions are intensifying across Punjab and Chandigarh as temperatures continue to rise with the progression of April, leaving residents increasingly distressed. According to weather data, Bathinda recorded a high of 41.1 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh registered 40.0 degrees Celsius. The overall temperature across the state has increased by 1.8 degrees Celsius, making it 3.5 degrees above normal levels. The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather conditions from April 19 to April 24, with no immediate relief expected during this period. Temperatures are likely to rise further by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Officials have advised residents to remain cautious and pay close attention to their diet and hydration to cope with the extreme heat. Data from the Meteorological Department shows that maximum temperatures across 18 cities in the state ranged between 35 and 41 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius (2.0 degrees above normal), Ludhiana 39.8 degrees Celsius (3.2 degrees above normal), Patiala 40.4 degrees Celsius (3.1 degrees above normal), and Hoshiarpur 37.3 degrees Celsius (2.4 degrees above normal). According to Surender Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry in the coming days. While no significant change in maximum temperatures is anticipated in the next 24 hours, a further increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is likely thereafter.
