Divya Mittal’s Political Debut: Former IAS Officer Plans People-Centric Platform in Uttar Pradesh

Former IAS officer Divya Mittal, a native of Rewari in Haryana, has announced her entry into politics in Uttar Pradesh after nearly 13 years in administrative service. Rather than joining an existing political party, Mittal has said she plans to build a political platform by working directly with people.
Mittal was a 2013-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre and served in several important administrative positions during her career. She also served as the District Magistrate of Mirzapur and Deoria.
Resigned After 13 Years of Service
Mittal announced her resignation from the IAS on August 30, citing personal reasons, family priorities and new goals in life. Her resignation was subsequently accepted and became effective on September 15, bringing her nearly 13-year administrative career to an end.
Her transition to politics follows her decision to remain in Uttar Pradesh and continue working on issues concerning ordinary citizens.
Why Did Divya Mittal Choose Politics?
In a video message released on Tuesday, Mittal said she would remain in Uttar Pradesh, would not be afraid and would continue to ask questions. She said she wanted to become a voice for people whose concerns often do not reach the public platform.
During her administrative career, Mittal dealt with issues involving basic public services and development. She has highlighted concerns relating to schools, roads, farmers and unemployment, as well as the issue of examination paper leaks. Her decision to enter politics has been presented as an effort to raise such issues directly with the public.
Mittal has also appealed to people to join her initiative and support her proposed political platform. She has shared a WhatsApp contact for people who want to connect with the initiative.
No Political Party for Now
Mittal has made it clear that she is not currently planning to join a political party. Instead, she intends to work with citizens and develop her own platform.
Her stated approach is to raise public issues directly and remain connected with people rather than entering politics through an established party structure. She has described Uttar Pradesh as the place where she intends to begin this new phase of her public life.
The announcement marks a transition from a career in the civil services to active political engagement, with Mittal seeking to build a platform around issues she says affect ordinary citizens.
