US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit China from May 13 to May 15, with Chinese authorities officially confirming the trip on Monday. During the visit, Trump is expected to hold discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping on several important international and bilateral issues, including Iran, trade relations and Taiwan. According to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Trump will undertake the official visit at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Reports indicate that the US President was initially expected to travel to China in March or April, but the visit was postponed due to rising military tensions involving Iran. US officials stated that Trump may use the visit to increase diplomatic pressure on China regarding Iran-related matters. China is considered one of the largest buyers of Iranian oil, and its refineries have reportedly continued purchasing oil from Iran at lower prices. Trade tensions between the United States and China have remained a major issue for a long period, particularly over tariffs and economic policies. Reports suggest that both countries may also discuss steps to stabilize trade arrangements and explore possible new agreements during the high-level talks. The Taiwan issue is also expected to remain a central topic of discussion. According to the White House, Trump is also scheduled to visit Beijing’s famous Temple of Heaven during the tour. A special state banquet is also expected to be organized in his honor.
