Despite Challenges, Indians Remain Optimistic About Country’s Direction: Ipsos Report

A recent global survey has revealed that inflation and unemployment remain the primary concerns among Indian citizens, along with issues such as education, crime and violence, and financial as well as political corruption. The findings were highlighted in the “What Worries the World” report released by Ipsos, one of the world’s leading market research firms. According to the report, despite these ongoing challenges, India continues to rank among the top five countries where citizens believe that their nation is moving in the right direction. The survey further noted that countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand, along with India, have emerged as centres of global optimism. In contrast, people in 25 out of the 29 countries surveyed expressed the view that their nations are heading in the wrong direction. Suresh Ramalingam, CEO of Ipsos India, stated that despite domestic challenges and global disruptions caused by conflicts in West Asia, India has shown resilience. He added that proactive efforts by the government to address issues such as the oil crisis have helped maintain public confidence. However, the report also cautioned that if tensions in West Asia do not ease, disruptions in oil and gas supply could escalate into a broader global crisis. In response, India is working towards diversifying its sources of oil imports to mitigate potential risks.
