Big Boost for Punjab Infrastructure as New Railway Line Project Unveiled

A major railway infrastructure project for Punjab has been announced by Union Railway Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, aimed at improving connectivity to a key religious site in the state. Speaking at an event held at Bathinda railway station, Bittu announced that Takht Sri Damdama Sahib will be connected through a new railway line. The project is expected to significantly enhance accessibility for devotees and boost regional connectivity. Providing further details, Bittu stated that the Government of India will undertake the development of this railway link with an estimated cost of ₹1118 crore. He described the initiative as a significant step forward, adding that the project has been undertaken with the blessings of the Sikh Gurus. On the occasion, Bittu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the project. He noted that the demand for rail connectivity to Damdama Sahib had been pending for decades and is now being fulfilled by the central government. The announcement is being seen as a major development for Punjab’s infrastructure, particularly in improving connectivity to important religious destinations.
