ormer India Under-19 cricketer Amanpreet Singh Gill has passed away at the age of 36. The information was shared by the Punjab Cricket Association through a post on X, stating that Amanpreet died on Wednesday morning. Born on September 16, 1989, in Chandigarh, Amanpreet Singh Gill was a right-arm medium pacer. He represented India’s Under-19 team in 2007 alongside prominent cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Manish Pandey. Amanpreet was part of the triangular Under-19 tournament involving India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in 2007. During the competition, he claimed nine wickets in five matches. Over the course of his cricketing career, he played six first-class matches and picked up 11 wickets. In its condolence message, the Punjab Cricket Association described Amanpreet as a dedicated servant of the game who contributed to Punjab cricket with commitment and passion. The association also noted that he served as a member of Punjab’s Senior Selection Committee and represented teams including Punjab and Kings XI Punjab. Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh also expressed grief over Amanpreet’s demise. Yuvraj remembered him as a calm and hardworking cricketer from his early playing days who had immense love for the sport. He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
