Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran Resigns, Will Not Seek Reappointment

A major development has emerged from the Tata Group, with N. Chandrasekaran resigning as Chairman of Tata Sons. He has decided not to seek reappointment to the position. His current term was scheduled to end in February 2027. Chandrasekaran announced his resignation ahead of the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for August 18. Uncertainty had been growing over his re-election as a director, while tensions within the Tata Group were also reportedly increasing. The resignation announcement came during a trading session in which shares of several Tata Group companies were under selling pressure on Wednesday morning. Shares of Tata Consumer Products fell more than 1 per cent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), trading at around ₹1,066. Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also declined by around 1 per cent to approximately ₹2,424.50. Chandrasekaran’s resignation marks a significant development for Tata Sons and is expected to lead to renewed discussion over the company’s future leadership and the group’s strategy going forward.
