Jaideep Pawar Calls for Transparency and Accountability Following Maharashtra Plane Cras

02 Mar, 2026 10:02 AM

Jaideep Pawar, son of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has raised serious concerns over the preliminary report released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) concerning the recent plane crash that claimed his father’s life. He has called for stringent action against VSR Ventures following the findings of safety lapses highlighted in the report. In an Instagram post, Jaideep Pawar expressed his dissatisfaction with the preliminary investigation, urging for transparency and comprehensive answers. He stated, “Having read the AAIB preliminary report, I am deeply saddened to see that it has not been prepared in full depth. The people of Maharashtra, and the families who have lost loved ones, deserve not just official information but truth, transparency, and thorough explanations.” Pawar also voiced concern over the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) decision to ground only some aircraft of the VSR fleet, highlighting the possibility that similar safety deficiencies could exist across other planes. He emphasized, “If serious lapses in safety rules and procedures are identified, actions should not be limited to a few aircraft. The entire VSR fleet must be subject to strict measures. Passenger safety must be the top priority, and if necessary, operations of all VSR aircraft should be suspended until a complete investigation is concluded.” In a separate Instagram post, Pawar shared a video alleging pilot negligence during the flight, where VSR owner Rohit Singh was reportedly seen sleeping in the cockpit. He stated, “Such negligence in the air is unacceptable and shocking. I strongly demand that the DGCA take immediate and strict action. Until a full investigation is completed, all VSR aircraft should be grounded, and Rohit Singh must be arrested and subjected to rigorous legal action. This is a heartfelt plea from a son for his father and for the safety of every passenger.” The family’s demand for accountability reflects growing concerns over aviation safety and regulatory oversight in India, particularly following high-profile accidents that raise questions about compliance with operational standards.
