Ferozepur Braces for Possible Floods as ADC Reviews Preparedness

Ferozepur : In view of potential flood threats during the monsoon season, a high-level preparedness meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Damanjit Singh Mann under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma. The meeting brought together officers from various departments to ensure coordinated and timely flood management efforts across the district.

ADC Mann instructed the Drainage Department officials to complete the cleaning of drains and canals without delay. He emphasized that timely de-silting and maintenance of these water channels can significantly reduce flood risks. The XEN Drainage was directed to focus on sensitive locations near Dhussi and Advance bundhs and ensure all flood prevention works are completed swiftly.

He also directed Mandi Board officials to repair damaged roads and ensure cleaning under culverts. The Health Department was advised to stock essential medicines in anticipation of any flood-related health emergencies.

Officials from the various departments were briefed on their responsibilities. ADC Mann called for inter-departmental coordination and readiness to handle any emergency situation effectively.

BDPOs were asked to play an active role in relief operations in rural areas, while the Civil Supplies Department was instructed to supply essential food and necessities to affected families if required. Clean drinking water, sanitation, livestock care, and fodder availability were highlighted as key priorities.

The Red Cross was urged to work closely with NGOs and welfare organizations to provide assistance to those in need.

SDMs Gurmeet Singh Mann (Ferozepur/Zira), Udedeep Singh Sidhu (Guru Har Sahai), DRO Maj. Gurjinder Singh Benipal, SP Naveen Kumar, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
