Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Releases Funds Under ‘Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Honour Scheme’

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday released financial assistance to women beneficiaries under the “Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Honour Scheme”. Under the scheme, women belonging to the general category received ₹3,000, while women from the Scheduled Caste category were provided ₹4,500 directly into their bank accounts. Addressing a public event in Pathankot, Chief Minister Mann said that his government has fulfilled all the promises it made to the people. He remarked that although he was once unknown to many, it was the women of Punjab who helped him become the Chief Minister. Referring to the financial assistance, he stated that while ₹1,500 may not make anyone wealthy, it can provide meaningful support for household expenses. The Punjab Government also transferred financial assistance ranging between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 into the accounts of eligible women on August 1. Last month, payments were released to women who had completed their registration under the Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Honour Scheme before June 25. This time, women who registered after June 25 also received the scheme benefits. For the first time since the launch of the scheme, eligible women beneficiaries received three months' financial assistance in a single instalment. Earlier, funds had already been transferred to the accounts of 32 lakh women. Following the latest disbursement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government said it has now extended the benefits of one of its major pre-election guarantees to 72 lakh women out of an estimated 98 lakh eligible women ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
