Challans for Traffic Rule Violators as DRSC Steps Up Road Safety Review

Faridkot : A meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Madam Poonamdeep Kaur to strictly implement road safety rules in the district and to review the Safe School Vehicle Scheme and the functioning of the District Road Safety Committee. Officials from the concerned departments participated in the meeting.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stated that strict measures will be taken to ensure the public follows traffic rules. She reviewed matters related to unauthorized parking, overspeeding, overloaded vehicles, and the safety of women in buses. During the meeting, there was also a discussion on fully implementing the Safe School Vehicle Policy for the safety of schoolchildren and conducting regular health check-ups for drivers.

She emphasized that to prevent road accidents, road safety rules must be followed, and challans (fines) should be issued to violators. She also instructed that helmets for two-wheeler riders and seatbelts for four-wheeler drivers must be strictly enforced.

On this occasion, Regional Transport Officer Madam Harjot Kaur assured the Deputy Commissioner that road safety rules would be strictly enforced across the district, and under the Safe School Policy, regular inspections of school buses and vans would be conducted. She mentioned that officials and staff have been given training related to the e-DAR and i-DAR portals and have also been informed about the cashless treatment scheme.

Present at the occasion were SDM Faridkot Major Dr. Varun Kumar, SDM Jaito Mr. Suraj, District Medical Officer Dr. Vishwadeep Goel, District Education Officer (Secondary) Madam Neelam Rani, District Education Officer (Elementary) Anjana Kaushal, E.O. Municipal Council Faridkot Mr. Amrit Lal, Natha Singh B.D.P.O. Faridkot, Gurdas Singh A.D.O. Mandi Board, D.A.C. Shamsher Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Praveen Kala from NGOs, as well as officers from various departments and representatives from NGOs.
