The Punjab Government will soon organise district-wise NRI meets across the state to address the concerns of overseas Punjabis, Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh announced after chairing a high-level departmental meeting on NRI affairs. The minister stated that the government has been consistently organising such outreach programmes to resolve issues faced by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Continuing this initiative, NRI meets will be held in every district of Punjab during the current year. Dr. Ravjot Singh emphasised that the primary objective of these meetings is to provide solutions to NRI-related problems at their doorstep, eliminating the need for them to visit government offices repeatedly. He directed officials to ensure that all complaints and issues raised by NRIs are resolved within a stipulated timeframe. He further asserted that the Punjab Government remains committed to safeguarding the interests of Punjabis living abroad. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is prioritising the resolution of NRI concerns and has put in place strong mechanisms to protect their property and land rights in Punjab. The minister also instructed departmental officials to expedite the process of conducting elections for the NRI Sabha and complete all necessary formalities at the earliest. Senior officials present at the meeting included NRI Department Secretary V. N. Zade, Divisional Commissioner Jalandhar and Secretary Information & Public Relations Ramvir, Special Secretary NRI Amandeep Kaur, ADGP NRI R. K. Jaiswal, Additional Secretary NRI R. B. S. Brar, and AIG Ajinder Singh.
