Eight Workers Killed After Molten Iron Spill at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant

A major industrial accident occurred at a steel plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, resulting in the death of eight workers and injuries to several others. All injured workers have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. According to available information, molten iron was being transported from one section of the plant to another using a crane when the accident took place. During the operation, the crane reportedly lost balance, causing the container carrying the molten metal to overturn. The extremely hot molten iron fell onto workers who were carrying out duties below. The incident occurred at the steel plant operated by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL). Following the accident, panic spread across the plant complex. Rescue and emergency response teams rushed to the site, evacuated the injured workers, and shifted them to hospitals for medical care. Police officials stated that the molten steel involved in the accident was at an extremely high temperature of around 1,600 degrees Celsius at the time of the incident. The intense heat contributed to the severity of the tragedy. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He directed all concerned departments to expedite relief operations and ensure necessary assistance for those affected by the accident.
