Tilak Varma to Lead India A Against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla Clash

The opening match of the ODI tri-series will be played today between India A and Sri Lanka A. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka. The tri-series also features Afghanistan A as the third participating team. Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is set to make his first appearance since the IPL. India A will be led by Tilak Varma, while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed vice-captain of the side. Sri Lanka A have enjoyed the upper hand in recent encounters against India A. Of the last five matches played between the two teams, Sri Lanka A have won two, while India A have secured one victory. The remaining two matches were abandoned due to rain. Under the tournament format, each of the three teams will play two matches against one another during the league stage. The top two teams in the points table at the end of the league phase will qualify for the final, which is scheduled to be held on June 21. India A will play their second match of the tournament against Afghanistan A on June 11. The team will then face Sri Lanka A again on June 15 before taking on Afghanistan A on June 17.
