Haryana Administration on Alert to Curb Stubble Burning, SDM Holds Meeting with Officials
The administration has intensified monitoring to ensure proper management of crop residue and prevent incidents of stubble burning in the region.
As part of these efforts, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surinder Singh held a meeting with officials from the Agriculture Department, patwaris, village secretaries, lambardars and employees of other concerned departments.
During the meeting, officials discussed measures for effective crop residue management, preventing stubble-burning incidents and ensuring prompt action in case of fire incidents in agricultural fields.
The SDM directed officials and field-level employees to maintain regular surveillance in their respective areas and create awareness among farmers about the harmful practice of burning stubble. He emphasised that along with administrative vigilance, active cooperation from farmers was equally important to achieve the objective.
Surinder Singh instructed all concerned departments to discharge their responsibilities seriously to ensure that crop residue in agricultural fields is not set on fire.
He also directed Agriculture Department officials to visit villages, interact directly with farmers and educate them about various methods of scientific stubble management.
Farmers should be informed about the availability of agricultural machinery and alternative methods for disposing of crop residue so that they can manage stubble properly instead of burning it, he said.
The SDM stressed that effective management of crop residue was not only necessary to prevent stubble-burning incidents but was also important for environmental protection.
