4-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Into Borewell in Ambala, Body Recovered After Rescue Operation

A four-year-old boy, Nirvair Singh, who fell into a borewell in Dhanora village of Ambala on Tuesday morning, was found dead after an extensive rescue operation that concluded in the early hours of Wednesday. The child was pulled out of the borewell at around 3:25 a.m. and later declared dead at Ambala Civil Hospital. Medical Officer Dr. Rishipal said that Nirvair was examined immediately after being rescued and was rushed to the Civil Hospital without delay. Despite all efforts by the medical team, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The child's body has been sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Officials said that water was present inside the borewell, and the exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report is received. According to officials, Nirvair Singh had fallen into the borewell in Dhanora village on Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale rescue operation. Personnel from the police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Indian Army were deployed at the site. Heavy machinery was also used during the rescue mission. Family members said Nirvair had accompanied his father, Manjit Singh, to the family's fields at around 6:30 a.m. to deliver food to his grandfather. While playing near the fields, the child accidentally fell into a neighboring borewell. Hearing his cries, his father and grandfather immediately raised an alarm. Local residents and emergency response teams rushed to the scene, but initial efforts to rescue the child were unsuccessful.
