Police and District Administration Roll Out ‘Project AAS’ for Drug De-Addiction

Fazilka : In a major step under the Punjab Government’s ongoing "Yudh Nashian Virudh" mission led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Fazilka Police and District Administration today launched ‘Project AAS’ from Arniwala. This outreach initiative is aimed at connecting with drug-affected individuals, motivating them to undergo treatment, and reintegrating them into mainstream society.
The project was jointly inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Amritpreet Kaur Sandhu and Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh, with the special support of Sant Baba Prem Singh Ji and Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji, who were present during the launch event and extended their blessings for the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Amritpreet Kaur Sandhu stated that the aim of this project is to eliminate fear and stigma around treatment and encourage those suffering from addiction to step forward for help. “While police are cutting off the supply chain of drugs, this initiative focuses on healing those already affected. 'Project AAS' will be a ray of hope for the youth and their families who want to come out of this dark phase,” she said. She added that all identities will be kept confidential and treatment will be provided free of cost.
SSP Gurmeet Singh emphasized that strict action will continue against drug peddlers, but those who voluntarily come forward for de-addiction will face no questioning or legal action from the police. “This project is inspired by the value of life and the hope to make it better,” he said, announcing that similar awareness and outreach camps will be organized across all sub-divisions. “If someone in your family is suffering from drug addiction, don’t ignore them. Encourage and accompany them for treatment,” he urged.
Sant Baba Sohan Singh, lauding the efforts of the police and administration, called drug addiction a treatable problem and appealed to the masses to break ties with drugs and build a life of dignity and health. He highlighted that proper medical consultation and treatment can help in quitting addiction. His inspiring words motivated many to join this movement.
Dr. Erick briefed the audience on the various treatment options available for drug addicts. SP(D) Mukhtiar Rai, DSP Jatinder Singh, and SHO Angrez Singh were also present and addressed the gathering. An anti-drug pledge was also administered during the event.
