ICC Defers March Governance Meeting in Qatar Over Regional Security Concerns

he International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed its meeting scheduled to be held from March 25 to 27 in Doha, Qatar, in view of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East linked to the Iran–Israel conflict. According to reports, the meeting is now expected to take place in April, although the ICC has not yet officially announced the new dates. The decision was taken after assessing the security situation in the region. Sources said the ICC has already informed its member boards about the postponement. The gathering was part of the ICC’s governance calendar and was expected to bring together board directors, chief executives of member boards, committee members and senior officials. The meeting was intended to discuss several key matters related to global cricket as well as future plans for the sport. Officials were expected to review various administrative and strategic issues affecting international cricket. Earlier, on February 22, the ICC had announced that the meeting would be hosted in Doha. The decision to hold the meeting in Qatar reflected the ICC’s growing engagement with the country’s cricket development efforts and its expanding sporting ecosystem. For now, the ICC is considering new dates and a possible venue for the meeting.
