Removed as Deputy Leader, Raghav Chadha Challenges Party to Prove Allegations
The ongoing rift between Raghav Chadha and the Aam Aadmi Party intensified on Saturday after the Rajya Sabha member launched a sharp counterattack against his own party, rejecting all allegations levelled against him. In a video statement issued after being removed as the party’s Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, Chadha dismissed the three key charges against him as completely false. He challenged the party leadership to prove even a single allegation. Using a popular film dialogue, he remarked, “I am wounded, therefore I am dangerous,” signalling a strong rebuttal to the party’s action. Responding to the accusations, Chadha stated that he does not support opposition walkouts in Parliament and asserted that Rajya Sabha CCTV footage could verify his stance. Addressing the allegation that he did not sign a motion seeking impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), he clarified that six out of AAP’s ten Members of Parliament had not signed it, as the required 50 signatures for the motion had already been met. He added that no party leader had approached him regarding the matter. Rejecting claims that he was fearful of the government or the Prime Minister, Chadha said he had actively raised key issues over the past four years, including Punjab’s water concerns, Delhi’s pollution, and taxation matters, within Parliament. He further emphasised that his role in Parliament was to raise issues concerning taxpayers and contribute meaningfully, not to engage in disruptions or create disorder. Chadha also warned that he would continue to expose what he described as false narratives being spread against him. The development has brought the internal discord within the Aam Aadmi Party into the public domain, with political observers viewing it as a significant escalation in the party’s internal conflict.
