India Announces Relief Measures for Foreign Travellers Stuck Due to Middle East War
In view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia and disruptions in international air routes, the India government has announced relief measures for foreign nationals stranded in the country. According to the Indian Embassy in Dubai, foreign citizens whose visas are about to expire will be granted a 30-day free (gratis) visa extension. The move is aimed at assisting travellers who have been unable to leave India due to the current crisis affecting air travel in the region. Authorities also clarified that no penalty will be charged for overstaying if the delay occurred after February 28 due to the conflict. Officials said that once air routes reopen, the affected foreign nationals will be issued exit permits free of cost to facilitate their departure. The decision comes at a time when missile and drone attacks involving Israel, Iran, and the United States have led to partial closure of airspace across several Gulf countries. Due to these restrictions, airlines such as Qatar Airways are operating only limited flights, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. India has also announced that if international flights are diverted to the country, passengers on board will be granted free Temporary Landing Permits (TLPs). The ongoing conflict has significantly affected global oil supply chains and international air travel, creating widespread disruptions for travellers.
