IPL: Abhishek Sharma Penalised After On-Field Conduct vs KKR

Abhishek Sharma, opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The incident occurred during Thursday’s game at Eden Gardens, where Sharma was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This provision generally relates to inappropriate behaviour during matches, including actions or gestures that go against the spirit of the game. In addition to the financial penalty, one demerit point has been added to Sharma’s disciplinary record. The match itself saw Sunrisers Hyderabad register a comprehensive victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. After being put in to bat first, Hyderabad posted a total of 226 runs for the loss of eight wickets. In response, Kolkata were bowled out for 161 runs in 16 overs, handing Hyderabad a 65-run win. The disciplinary action highlights the IPL’s continued emphasis on maintaining on-field discipline and upholding the spirit of the game.
