West Bengal’s Falta Assembly constituency witnessed fresh polling on Thursday after the Election Commission ordered re-voting following complaints during the earlier election process. Voting began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. A total of 285 polling stations have been established across the constituency to facilitate voting. Election authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and fair polling process. The previous election in the constituency was held on April 29. However, allegations surfaced at some polling booths claiming that adhesive tape had been placed on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) button on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Reports of malfunctioning EVMs were also received from several booths. Following these complaints, the Election Commission ordered fresh polling in the Falta Assembly constituency. The results of the voting are scheduled to be announced on May 24. Security arrangements have also been strengthened for the re-polling process. Earlier, four security personnel were deployed at each polling booth. This time, the number has been doubled, with eight security personnel stationed at every booth to maintain law and order during voting.
