Raghav Chadha Leaves AAP, Alleges Party Has Drifted from Core Values

In a significant political development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha has announced his resignation from the party. He also declared his decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a major shift in the political landscape. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Chadha stated that he would be joining the BJP along with two-thirds of the party’s Members of Parliament. His announcement has triggered widespread discussion and reactions across political circles. During the press interaction, Chadha strongly criticized AAP, stating that the party has deviated from its founding principles. He said, “The AAP that I nurtured with my blood and sweat and to which I dedicated 15 years of my youth has now strayed from its ideals, values, and core ethics.” He further alleged that the party is no longer working in the interest of the nation but is instead driven by personal gains. Chadha added that over the past few years, he had increasingly felt that he was “the right person in the wrong party.” He said that this realization led him to take the decision to separate himself from AAP and reconnect with the people. He also claimed that more than two-thirds of the MPs are supporting his move. According to him, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, and Swati Maliwal are among those backing his decision. Addressing the press conference alongside Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Chadha stated that two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha members would merge with the BJP by invoking provisions of the Constitution of India. This development is expected to have significant political implications in the coming days, as parties react and the situation unfolds further.
