Campaign to run till October 2; Calls to make cleanliness a part of daily life With the aim of making cleanliness a people's movement and ensuring maximum public participation, the 'Swachhata Hi Seva - 2026' campaign was launched here today by Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak. Addressing all Sarpanches and Gram Panchayat members of Block Gharota on the occasion, he said that this year's campaign will be run on a larger and more effective scale. On this occasion, under the guidance of DSO-cum-Executive Engineer Shri Sukhjit Singh, ADSO Shri Dhiraj Dogra, the social staff of DWSS of District Pathankot gave detailed information about the campaign to the gathering present. They informed that the 'Swachhata Hi Seva - 2026' campaign has started on September 17 and will continue till October 2, 2026.

 The main objective of this campaign is to create awareness among people about cleanliness and sanitation as well as to ensure active public participation in cleanliness drives. The Cabinet Minister said that this campaign is not limited to just cleaning streets or drains, but its aim is also to develop a culture where cleanliness becomes an integral part of our daily life. He said that along with keeping public places clean, ensuring due respect and safety to the workers associated with sanitation services is also our collective responsibility. 'Partnership in Swachhata, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat' is the theme of this campaign. Under this campaign, special emphasis will be laid on ensuring active participation of the people in cleanliness and sanitation. 

The five main pillars of the campaign include transformation of cleanliness target units (CTUs) and creation of clean public spaces, 'Swachh Pathshala — Yuva for Swachhata', 'Safai Mitra Suraksha and Samman Shivir' for the safety, welfare and honour of Safai Mitras, cleanliness through public participation, and linking cleanliness with prosperity through 'Swachhata se Samriddhi'. On this occasion, Shri Kataruchak also said that during the campaign, various activities will be organized to connect every section of society with cleanliness drives and to instill a sense of shared responsibility towards cleanliness.
