Mumbai Fire: Two Killed, Eight Injured in Blaze at 12-Storey Building

Two people were killed and eight others injured after a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a 12-storey building in Mumbai. The fire erupted at the Shanta Bhavan building near a school in Vile Parle. According to fire officer V. Bhosle, eight fire tenders were dispatched to the spot to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters also safely evacuated 15 people who had become trapped on the building’s rooftop. According to officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the deceased have been identified as two-year-old Abir and 23-year-old Ankita. Of the eight people injured in the incident, two have been admitted to hospital, while the condition of the remaining injured people has been described as stable. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire. The incident comes after another fire was reported late Sunday night at a room on the first floor of Mumbai’s Byculla police station. The flames spread quickly to adjoining rooms, but no casualties or major property damage were reported in that incident.
