Punjab Vigilance Bureau Registers Case Against Deed Writer for Bribery
In line with the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against Naresh Kumar, a deed writer (wasika navis) based in Patiala, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. According to official information shared by a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau, the case was initiated following a complaint filed by a resident of Professor Colony, Cheeka, in Haryana’s Kaithal district. The complaint was submitted through the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line portal. The complainant alleged that his relative had purchased land in Patiala district and that the accused demanded ₹15,000 to process the registration of the property. It was further claimed that at the time of accepting the bribe, the accused called the tehsildar’s driver and a patwari to the spot. Subsequently, the registration of the land was completed by the tehsildar. Notably, the complainant reportedly recorded the entire conversation related to the demand for the bribe, which served as key evidence in the case. Based on these allegations, the Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against the accused at the Vigilance Police Station in Patiala under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
