Chandigarh Police Launch Probe After Explosion Outside BJP Office
A powerful explosion was reported outside the Punjab unit office of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Sector 37 of Chandigarh on Wednesday evening, creating panic in the area. According to initial information, the blast occurred at around 5:30 PM. While no casualties have been reported, several vehicles parked outside the office sustained minor damage. Following the incident, the Chandigarh Police promptly reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Security agencies, along with fire brigade units and ambulance services, were also deployed at the site as a precautionary measure. The area has been cordoned off, and police teams are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to ascertain the cause of the explosion and identify those responsible. Punjab BJP leader Vineet Joshi stated that the sound of the blast was heard around 5:00 PM. Senior police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur, visited the site to assess the situation. The BJP office is located in a busy area of Sector 37, which also houses the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council, a petrol pump, and several other offices. Authorities have intensified surveillance in the vicinity as part of the ongoing probe. Police officials stated that further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
