Over 5 Lakh Delhi Municipal School Students to Get Uniforms and Bags Under ₹70.69-Crore Scheme

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday released ₹70.69 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for uniforms and school bags for more than five lakh students studying in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools.

The announcement was made under the Seva Sankalp campaign at an event held at an MCD primary school in Tagore Garden. The programme also saw the inauguration of 10 artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics laboratories, along with facilities including 1,500 printers, Science on Wheels and 60 Chromebooks.

Gupta said the DBT initiative would bring greater transparency to the distribution of funds and help ensure that every eligible child received the assistance. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and providing students with better learning opportunities.

The Chief Minister said parents always hoped their children would achieve more than they had themselves. According to her, the BJP-led Delhi government was working to fulfil this aspiration by providing quality education, modern facilities and opportunities for students to progress.

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Mayor Pravesh Wahi and Deputy Mayor Monika Pant were also present at the event.

Rekha Gupta Calls CJP AAP’s ‘B-Team’

Gupta also criticised the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), describing it as the Aam Aadmi Party’s “B-team” and accusing it of pursuing a politically motivated agenda.

Questioning the party’s choice of protest venue, she asked why it held demonstrations in Delhi instead of Punjab over the killings of people who speak out against drugs. Referring to a murder in Punjab the previous day, she questioned why CJP had not staged a protest there.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the financial burden that repeated demonstrations during the festive season could place on Delhi’s traders. She pointed out that designated venues, including Ramlila Maidan and Burari Ground, were available for protests.

Gupta further alleged that the Congress wanted to come to power at any cost.
