New Book Centre Inaugurated in Khatkar Kalan to Connect Students With Books
: A new reading and discussion centre, Book Mitr Ghar, has been inaugurated near the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Museum in Khatkar Kalan, providing book lovers with a dedicated space for meetings and intellectual discussions.
Harjinder Singh, who manages the centre, said that valuable, healthy, scientific and quality books would be made available at Book Mitr Ghar.
He said efforts would also be made to connect students with the centre by reaching out to schools, colleges, universities and villages.
Amolak Singh, president of the Punjab Lok Sabhyacharak Manch, visited the centre to extend his best wishes for the initiative. He said the centre was an effort to build a bridge for promoting book culture in Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, keeping in mind Bhagat Singh’s emphasis on developing a connection with books.
Storyteller Ajmer Singh Sidhu said that the words contained in books had immense power and could transform the lives of readers and society while providing new direction.
During the event, three books edited by Harjinder Singh were released. Santosh Kaur, Paramjit Kaur Raja Sahib Da Majara, Paramjit Kaur Raipur Dabba, Kamlesh Kaur Rasulapur and Asha Khatkar Kalan participated in the release.
Joginder Pal Khatkar Kalan and Gurmukh Singh Lok Premi Phagwara presented songs highlighting social change on the occasion.
