Israeli Attack Hits Key Iranian Nuclear Installations, IAEA Monitoring Situation

28 Mar, 2026 06:30 AM

Israel carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Friday, targeting a uranium processing plant located in Yazd. According to the Israeli military, the attack was aimed at a site involved in critical processes required for uranium enrichment. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a strong warning in response, stating that Israel would have to pay a heavy price for the strikes. He further confirmed that the Khondab Heavy Water Facility and the Ardakan yellowcake production plant—both considered vital components of Iran’s nuclear program—were also targeted in the attack. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that there has been no increase in radiation levels in the surrounding areas following the strikes. The agency stated that it is currently investigating the incident and closely monitoring the situation. The IAEA Director General urged all parties to exercise restraint, emphasizing that any military action involving nuclear facilities could significantly increase the risk of a nuclear accident with potentially serious consequences.
