A 24-year-old man in Hyderabad was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and hitting a traffic police constable, carrying him on the bonnet of his luxury car. The incident, which occurred on February 28, was captured in a video showing the constable holding on as the car moved. The driver reportedly drove the vehicle for nearly one kilometre with the constable on the bonnet before some bystanders intervened, stopped the car, and handed the suspect over to Gachibowli police. Tests conducted later revealed that the driver’s blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit by 160 mg/100 ml. According to the constable, he was trying to stop the fleeing vehicle in Nanakramguda after it collided with another car. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated towards him, causing him to fall onto the bonnet. The driver then attempted to drive with the constable still on the car. Authorities have registered a case against the accused, who is now in police custody. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with law enforcement officials thanking the bystanders for their prompt intervention that helped prevent further injuries.
