Punjab Shocker: Village Sarpanch Dies After Alleged Vehicle and Sharp Weapon Attack

A major criminal incident has been reported from Punjab's Hoshiarpur district, where Satpal Singh Minta (55), the serving sarpanch of Anandgarh village and a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was allegedly murdered on Tuesday night. The incident reportedly took place at around 8 pm, prompting a police investigation. According to preliminary information, the attackers allegedly reached the sarpanch's residence over what is suspected to be an old personal rivalry. They first hit Satpal Singh Minta with their vehicle and then allegedly ran the vehicle over him. The assailants also attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. He sustained critical injuries in the assault and later succumbed to them. The victim's family alleged that while the sarpanch's son was taking his injured father to the hospital, a Bolero vehicle blocked their way and its occupants allegedly attempted to attack the family. According to the family, the son managed to drive directly to the police station before proceeding to the hospital. However, by the time he reached the medical facility, his father had already died. The family further claimed that around 20 attackers were involved in the incident. They alleged that the assailants arrived in two cars and several motorcycles before carrying out the attack. Police reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation. Authorities are working to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing. DSP City Kulbhushan Sharma said that a police team rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information and that some individuals have been taken into custody. He added that the preliminary investigation indicates the sarpanch was killed using a vehicle. Police said the motive behind the murder is being investigated and a detailed probe is underway.
