Montreal Police Investigate Deadly Shooting That Claimed Three Lives

Three people, including a police officer and the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting incident in the Canadian city of Montreal on Monday, according to police officials. The incident occurred in a Jewish neighborhood known for its kosher restaurants and supermarkets. Authorities have not yet determined the motive behind the attack. Police said the victims included a Montreal police officer, a local resident, and the alleged attacker. Another police officer sustained serious injuries during the incident but is reported to be in stable condition. Montreal Police Chief Fady Dagher stated that the shooting took place in the city's Côte-des-Neiges district. He confirmed that police officers shot and killed the suspected attacker at the scene. Chief Dagher also noted that this is the first time in 24 years that a Montreal police officer has been killed while on duty, describing the incident as a tragic loss for the police force and the community. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the Montreal Police said, "It is with great sadness that we confirm one of our police officers has died in the line of duty."
