200 Bags of Rice Stolen from Two Rice Mills in Punjab’s Tapa, Owners Suffer Rs 2 Lakh Loss
Thieves allegedly stole around 200 bags of rice from two rice mills in the Tapa area of Punjab, causing a financial loss of approximately Rs 2 lakh to the owners.
The thefts took place at Ravindra Rice Mill, located on Alike Road, and Sri Krishna Agro Foods in Maur Nabha village. Around 100 bags were reportedly stolen from each mill.
Ravinder Ghunnas and Ravinder Bansal, owners of Ravindra Rice Mill, said the theft came to light on Friday morning when the mill's accountant was counting the bags stacked in the storage areas. During the inspection, he found that one of the stacks was empty.
A closer examination revealed that nearly 100 bags of rice had been stolen. The owners said the thieves had carefully rearranged the remaining bags after removing the stock, making it difficult to notice the theft at first glance.
According to the mill owners, the thieves transported the stolen bags in a vehicle through the agricultural fields located behind the rice mill.
In a separate incident, around 100 bags of paddy were also stolen from Sri Krishna Agro Foods in Maur Nabha village. The mill's owner, Ugrasain Maur, confirmed the theft.
The two incidents have resulted in an estimated combined financial loss of around Rs 2 lakh to the owners of the rice mills.
